1st month of fetal development

Just four weeks after conception, the neural tube along your baby’s back is closing.

The baby’s brain and spinal cord will develop from the neural tube.

The heart and other organs also are starting to form.

Structures necessary to formation of  eyes and ears develop.

  1. A primitive face takes form with large dark circles for eyes.
  2. The mouth, lower jaw, and throat are developing.
  3. Blood cells are taking shape, and circulation will begin.

By the end of first month of pregnancy, your baby is around 6-7mm (1/4 inch) long – about  size of a grain of rice!
