Tension headache

Tension headaches occur when neck and scalp muscles become tense or contract. The muscle contractions can be a response to stress, depression, head injury, or anxiety. They may occur at any age, but are most common in adults and older teens.

How do you relieve tension headaches?

  1. Use a heating pad set on low,
  2. a hot water bottle,
  3. a hot shower or bath,
  4. a warm compress,
  5. a hot towel. Or apply ice or a cool washcloth to the forehead.
  6. Massage also can relieve muscle tension — and sometimes headache pain
