In  spinal cord and lead to neck pain.

Neck pain is often  result of muscle strain or damage to  bones of  upper spine. Trauma, such as from 

  1. broken neck,
  2. neck sprain,
  3. whiplash,

is the most common cause of neck injury. Car and other motor vehicle accidents, falls, and sports-related impact are examples of trauma.
