Angle – Closure Glaucoma.

Acute angle-closure glaucoma is an ocular emergency that results from a rapid increase in intraocular pressure due to outflow obstruction of aqueous humor.

Is angle-closure glaucoma serious?

  • If the high pressure is not reduced within hours, it can permanently damage your vision.
  • If you experience any of these symptoms, you should immediately contact your eye doctor or go to a hospital emergency room.

Causes:

  1. Closed-angle glaucoma occurs when the fluid is suddenly blocked and cannot flow out of the eye.
  2. This causes a quick, severe rise in eye pressure.
  3. Dilating eye drops and certain medicines may trigger an acute glaucoma attack.
