Amino acids (AAs), especially BCAAs, play pivotal roles in hormonal secretion and action as well as in intracellular signaling.
There is emerging data showing that BCAAs regulate gene transcription and translation.
- Amino acid are derived from tyrosine and tryptophan and include
epinephrine and norepinephrine (produced by the adrenal medulla).
- Amino acid-derived hormones also include
thyroxine (produced by the thryoid gland)
melatonin (produced by the pineal gland).
