Do nuts are rich in antioxidants?

Antioxidants have several health benefits to  human body too. Due to nutrient dense characteristics of nuts and seeds, they are known to provide several health benefits, such as:

  1. Helping to maintain your weight.
  2. Reducing your heart disease risk.
  • Several nuts are among  dietary plants with  highest content of total antioxidants. Of the tree nuts, walnuts, pecans and chestnuts have  highest contents of antioxidants.
  • Walnuts contain more than 20 mmol antioxidants per 100 g, mostly in  walnut pellicles.
  • Pecans, chestnuts, peanuts, pistachios, and sunflower seeds are very rich in total antioxidants.
  • Hazelnuts, almonds, Brazil nuts, macadamias, pine kernels, cashew nuts, flax seeds, poppy seeds, and sesame seeds contain significant amounts of total antioxidants.
