What is Melatonin?

Melatonin is a hormone that your brain produces in response to darkness. It helps with the timing of your circadian rhythms (24-hour internal clock) and with sleep.

Melatonin is an important player in  regulation of energy metabolism and glucose homeostasis.

It is responsible for  daily distribution of energy metabolism functions

  • daily phase of high insulin sensitivity, glycogen synthesis, and lipogenesis and a sleep phase associated with the usage of stored energy.
